Trees for Troops
For the 6th year, Fort Sill has been selected to receive free, live Christmas trees courtesy of Federal Express and the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation. These trees are intended as a way to say “Thank You” to active duty military soldiers and their families and are meant to make their holidays a little brighter.
The trees should arrive during the second week of December. They will be distributed at the Recycling Center at the corner of Sheridan and Mow-Way roads on a first-come, first-served basis. This program is only for active duty military and their families.
Distribution will begin Dec. 10 and run from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and again on Dec. 11 from noon - 5 p.m. If you miss either of these dates and times, call to see if there are any trees remaining.

“Tableau of Tables” Contest
This annual table decorating competition will take place Dec. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lois Long Center in Frederick, OK. There’s no fee to enter the contest. Table settings may be for two or more, may have a theme (holiday, birthday etc), and can be anything from the fun and funky to the fabulous and fancy. Tickets for the public will be available at the door for $1 each and will entitle visitors to vote for their favorite table. To enter and reserve your table, call Dana Greer 580.335.5689.
Christmas Breakfast and Parade
The Geronimo Events Committee will host “Christmas Breakfast and Parade,” Saturday, Dec. 17 from 7:30-11 a.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “A Story Book Christmas,” with parade entries depicting their favorite holiday story.
Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. in the Community Center on West Main Street. Santa will pose for pictures starting at 8 a.m., and parade entries will line up on Iowa Street at 10 a.m., with the parade starting down Main Street at 10:30 a.m. Cash and trophy prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries!
