Check out one of these great Summer Reading Programs in your community!

Altus AFB Library

The Altus Air Force Base Library will be participating in the DoD MWR Libraries’ Summer Reading Program, A Midsummer Knight’s Read. Children can anticipate lots of princesses, kings, queens, knights, fairies, swords, magic, and castles!
The storytime for the base library has been revised, so please be sure to review the Storytimes section for updates. In addition to adding an evening storytime, a special program for “tweens” (students in grades 5 – 8) has been created. Check with the library for events! All children are encouraged to read throughout the summer and log their hours, for the chance to win cool incentives as part of the program, and receive a t-shirt for participating! A new book club, The Mind Explorers’ Social, will meet each month for discussion and fun. New members are always welcome! Burkburnett Public Library

The library has a fabulous Summer Reading Program for children of all ages to participate in! On June 15 at noon, the staff invite you to their Kick Off Party for information and sign-ups! There will also be hot dogs, chips, and soda. For more information, call the library at 940.569.2991.

Chickasha Public Library

The library’s Summer Reading Program for kids ages 6 to 11 kicks off on Thursday, June 2. This will be a come and go day for registration, with game booths and the opportunity to pick up your reading records and other items needed to participate. Parents will receive information about the program, as well! You can get more information by calling 405.222.6075.

Fort Sill Nye Library

The Summer Reading Program begins in June! Military children birth - preschool age can attend a special meet-up every Wednesday at 11 a.m.; kindergarten – grade 2 will follow at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, as well. Those children in grades 3 – 6 grade will meet on Thursdays at 1 p.m. Teens (grades 7 – 12) are also encouraged to participate in their own program every Tuesday at 1 p.m. Register for these free programs and receive a Summer Reading bag with info! Read for prizes, create cool crafts, and participate in neat activities! You can gain more info by calling 580.442.2048.

Lawton Public Library

There are two parts to the library’s Summer Reading Program! The first part includes fun-filled performances! The performances have showtimes of either 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. On June 8, the Sugar Free All-Stars will perform live! Chester the Clown will be at the library on June 15 with magic and fun. Talk with Fort Sill Soldiers on June 22 – hear their stories and learn where they’ve been. And lastly, Backer Street presents Puppets! on June 29. Watch their crazy tricks and listen to funny stories.

The second part of their program involves reading, reading, and more reading! Register at the library June 1 to earn prizes and more during the Summer Reading Program! And join your friends at the library every Friday at 10:15 a.m. for Free Friday Morning Movies. For more information call the library at 580.581.3450.

Wichita Falls Library

The library’s summer reading program kicks off in June with a whole new calendar of events! Youth Crafts are every Thursday from 2 – 4 p.m. in Room 204. Tween Crafts are every other Thursday from 2 – 3 p.m. in Room 203. Come out for games and fun at Youth Gaming every Monday from 2:30 – 4 p.m. in the Activity Room! Families can join in together, too, every Tuesday at 1 p.m. The first Family Program will be held June 7 at the Wichita Theatre for Mark Shelton’s Percussion Party. Those programs following will take place in Room 205 at the library: Snake Encounters with Daryl Sprout on June 14; Dan Gibson Banjo Pickin’ & Storytelling on June 21; and Dig up a Good Book with Paleo Maggie on June 28.
